The ice - fuller view

From the marina on the left to the beach on the right. And of course the guy with the kite somewhere near the middle.

Awesome! Never seen a frozen beach before. Or do I have it all wrong? Is this white expanse sand frozen over?

The nearest bit is indeed sand with snow and ice on top, stretching from the gravel path on the right and for just a few meters outwards. You can see the dividing line between beach and sea beginning at the lower left corner, creeping in a low diagonal towards the right. But the flat, smooth field stretching off into the distance is the frozen sea, a small part of the Oslo fjord which again is, in fact, the ocean :)
Don't be fooled by the little trees and bushes on the ice. They don't grow there, but have been placed as guides for people who walk across. Yes, around here we can walk on water. It's no big trick, really, or at least not in the winter ;)

Coming from a tropical country, I am still trying to wrap my brain around the idea of our beaches, say Boracay or Puerto Galera, with ice covering the sand and the sea frozen solid! It's mind-boggling, especially to unfamiliar eyes. And yes, I was fooled by the little trees and bushes on the ice! :-)

What can I say? I'm a strange person living in a strange place ;)
