Sick man's supper

Felt like something else than porridge for supper, so I decided to risk a bowl of ramen - that's noodles for those of you who don't know - and see if that might spice up my evening a little. With my nose clogged with an unmentionable substance, I tasted very little of this meal at first, but since these beef-flavoured ramen are an itty bitty tad spicy (medium, not hot), they quickly cleared out my nasal passage so that both taste and smell was in full working order for a full half hour after supper.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I recommend the Thai 'mama' brand for clearing the nose - they last longer... Hope you get better soon. Though the development of the flu over time is a pretty stable process, that usually is fully restistent to any kind of interference, let me give you my personal, production proven, anti-flu recipie: in the early stages go to the steam-sauna, most preferably lemon or menthol, ALL the time keep you throat warm by wearing a scarf, and then pump up your body with vitamin-C to the point you can feel it, when getting rid of fluids... If you have fever, stay away from the sauna, thats too much stress for the heart and circulation on top of fever.

how come it looks so good when you cook it? :-)

Ughhh!!! Try a cheeseburger and fries instead.

Cheeseburger AND fries, Harry? What is their impact on a stuffed nose?

Harald: I have some stronger ramen lying about, which will easily clear my nose out even if it's not clogged at all. May try them today. I'll keep your anti-flu recipe at hand for when the real flu comes around (the tummy-flu bug left on Wednesday, it's just the cold that remains for a while longer). I have some friends with a sauna, so they may have a patient visiting - that'll be me - later this year if my flu shot doesn't work. I'm already on triple daily dose of vitamin C, and considering the quadruple as a real alternative.
Happy: But of course, everything looks good in a blue bowl :) I had expected more comments about the chopsticks, though. Hardly anyone around here uses or knows how to use them ;)
Harry: I prefer having burgers and fries when I can actually taste them. I'm planning an expedition to the nearest burger bar as soon as I get rid of this cold ;)

The doc did assure me that the vaccination is based on the new strain, and will be fully functional. However, being in such splendid shape as I usually am, I doubt whether the difference between infected and not infected would be at all noticeable.
And I'm thinking if doing a cooking book with the working title «inShadowz and his noodle», but it is in serious danger of never being written, let alone started on.

@rob73: I used to go for the hot-hot variety of noodles until I had an ill-fated love-affair with Tabasco sauce about eighteen years ago which ended in a painful overdose that killed off most of my taste buds so I couldn't tell what the heck I was eating for weeks. So I'm gonna stick with Medium until further notice ;) Chopsticks are always good fun though, only make sure you keep the ones you use on your nose away from those meant for eating with ;)
@manicmolly: (and apologies for late reply) My current fave brand is the one in the pic, Tung-I Ramen. It was the first variety of noodles that I ever tried, and it has kinda stuck with me. Most other brands available here have been "adapted for Scandinavian consumption" and are thus relatively low on actual taste. Now, if you'd like a horrible local sample, I'm sure that can be arranged, but I doubt I'd be able to come up with any great number of noodle varieties around here (save perhaps for the depicted one) that would either suit or impress someone who is already well seasoned in the art of noodle tasting ;) However, we have received international acclaim (almost on par with Switzerland) for our milk chocolates :)
