Toadstool Town
Exploring a small calle that Coco and I have never been
in (La Mesa Street) and found the trunk of a fallen palm
tree inhabited by teeny-tiny toadstools! Peered at them
in the hope of catching sight of little fairies. Nada!

Took advantage of a momentary light drizzle in the middle
of the day to take Coco out for a walk ... and I was dazzled
by the beauty of these garden flowers drinking up the
life-giving rain! My most delightful discovery during our
stroll in the rain is the okra! I never realized that the
plant of one of my favorite veggies had such lovely flowers!
It's been raining constantly for the past 3 days, with
hardly any let-up. Espied this little maya (a.k.a. the
Eurasian tree sparrow) sheltering from the rain on my
windowsill. Poor thing looks wet and cold...
Basáng Sisiw literally means "wet chick". Idiomatically, it refers to a "loser" or someone whose fallen flat on his face trying to do/achieve something.
Each of these three tree mushrooms are about
a foot in diameter! Never seen them this big!
Magnificent specimens!
... it's in our nature ... and in Nature.
They say "See a penny (in my case, peso), Pick it up,
And all day you'll have good luck!" And so I did. And
when I looked up ... voila! ... another rainbow! Or
part of the arc at least. But, hey, who wouldn't want
a double-dose of good luck charms, eh?
... even screechy-noisy cicadas do it!
(hmm, not a ménage-à-trois, i hope)
