Comic rugby postcard... again
Again... an early XXth century comic rugby postcard from UK... where caption
reads "A hard head is better that a weak stomach"
I let you meditate that sentence over the week-end...
BTW : the H-Cup returns...

A couple of days ago, I exchanged some mails with Mr Sean Fagan from Australia, a profesionnal writer and editor specialized in the history of our favorite Game (his websites are here and there). Sean is writing an article on rugby/war themes during WW1 and we checked some related prints or cards to illustrate the topic, such as this one or that one (I have some others... another time)
OK, this card showing Uncle Sam and a knocked-down Prussian looking like Hindenburg could possibly relate more to US football than rugby, but the caption ("l tink ve call it von draw") sounds like a great private joke to me .... !
As a great fan of Monty Python's "Holy Grail" (and I know some of my readers also belong to that "tribe"...), I can't refrain from laughing when I recall this scene when King Arthur defeats the Black Night at the bridge... "we'll call it a draw ..."
I like this comic rugby postcard !
I recently bought some new comic cards... I will post them in the next days...
... to show this nice cap recently purchased on eBay... It comes from Cumberland County (Scotland) 1928.
