Friday night drinks.
The boss gave our little social committee a handful of cash to invest in "stuff" to make our Friday night social events more entertaining
They lashed out on a PS2 plus Singstar microphones plus every Singstar game ever released in Australia. Nice one, guys. To top it off, they also lashed out on some massive beanbags which are ace to crash out on when you've had too much to drink.
Team it all up with a lunchroom/kitchenette that's got a projector and two fridges full of booze and you've got a fun Friday night.

Alcohol + microphone + Singstar = GOLD!

Another handy little iPhone app.
My brother-in-law (another iPhone fiend) sent me a link to
HereIAm, a little application that snaffles your current GPS location and sends it as a Google Maps link via email. I installed the application and walked out into our back yard (with good line of sight to the sky) to see how it performed.
Firstly I fired up the default mapping application first, which uses Google Maps, just to see if the GPS receiver had a decent signal. I stood next to our
dodgy little strip of lawn and Google Maps had me about 50cm from my actual location.
Then I quickly launched HereIAm. It spat out some GPS coordinates but claimed only 55m resolution (accuracy). Hmmm.... around here (a whole block of narrow terrace houses), that could have me up to a dozen houses away! I grabbed the reading anyway and let the app send the email. Walked back inside to the PC, clicked on the link I'd send myself (what a geek) and was pleasantly surprised by what I saw.
The "A" marker is the location captured by HereIAm. The little red and white target, about 1.5 metres away, was my actual location.

So I finally did it.
My iPhone has been jailbroken.

Oh how I miss dial-up. Not.
Linda's mum's PC is tethered to the internet via dial-up internet. She's asked me to take a look at some "error messages" which have been appearing recently. Nothing major - just some outstanding Windows Update and AVG anti-virus stuff.
AVG has taken almost 13mins to fix itself up. Windows Update, running for almost an hour, is now up to 2% downloaded!

Shopping: Communist Russia style
Linda's mum wanted to be taken to the supermarket to get a few things. She asked to be taken to the no-frills retailer, ALDI.
Limited choice.
Pick your stock out of the shipping boxes.
Very few "known" brands (all rebranded generic stuff).
Lots of bogans to keep you company.
BYO bags or pay 15c ea for them.
Pack your own bags.
Not my type of shop.
Sat 2 Aug, 2008 - 04:17:09 PM
ROTFLMAO!
ALDI product names are mostly rip-offs of the better-known trademarks. For example, Panadol has become Hedanol. Gawd that's lame.

Today's project.
Time to lift up the weed control matting, churn up the old soil and add copious amounts of organic matter. Then we'll cover it all back up again and let it mature for four weeks. When Spring arrives and we start planting our new front garden.
I hate gardening.
Sun 3 Aug, 2008 - 04:20:49 PM
Done.
My back is aching. My shoulders are sore. My hands are blistered. And the air is filled with the repulsive smell of manure. My work here is done.

Geena has a new neighbour.
A couple of guys around the corner picked up their baby Boston Terrier last night. And today Geena met 10 week old Jersey for the first time.
So tiny and cute!

Great little iPhone app.
Installed the AccuFuel app on my iPhone and loaded up all of the
Fueltrack recordings I've made since we bought the car.
Worth every cent of the AUD1.19 asking price!

Typical.
Bank Holiday in NSW today = day off for me. Of course, that means the clouds start rolling in and the weather in Sydney is about to turn sour. Mmmph.

The day has turned out alright after all.
The clouds have cleared and I'm off for a walk through Hyde Park.

Blue, blue skies!
This day off is flying by far too quickly.

Grrrrr.
Three CBA ATMs here at Eastgardens shopping centre. Only one is working and it's only got $50 notes left in it (no $20 notes). This is because it's Bank Holiday and the machines haven't been serviced since Friday morning.
Mon 4 Aug, 2008 - 05:21:01 PM
A very quiet day in the park.
All the other suckers must be at work ;-)

Gadget for the office.
Picked up this
Philips AJ301D iPod speaker dock this afternoon. Exploited a pricing error I spotted at Big-W on a silver one by going to Myer and asking them to price-match on a black one. $139.00rrp - mine for $89.00.
This is going to live on my desk at work to give me amplified choons from the iPhone.
