I hate Sydney taxi drivers. They're show no courtesy towards other road users, they don't know where they're going and they stink.

Great to see this unmarked highway patrol vehicle booking one of them, right on peakhour when being off the road REALLY hurts the dickwad cabbie, earlier this afternoon.

The Starbucks plague is one step closer to eradication here in Australia, closing 61 of its 84 stores Down Under. This article in today's Sydney Morning Herald contains a particularly funny string of comments from a Starbucks' competitor:

...Ming Du, manager of the Gloria Jean's Coffees store on Oxford Street in Darlinghurst, said he would be happy to look at resumes from employees of the Starbucks store about five minutes' walk away, which will be closing.

"We could take a couple of them," Mr Du said.

He said he did not expect his business to benefit from the closure of the nearby Starbucks because the customers who went there were "not interested in real coffee anyway".

"[Former Starbucks employees] would also need a bit of extra training in how to texturise milk because we use a manual system here and they use a semi-automatic," Mr Du said.

He said people who had more than a year's experience making coffee should have no trouble getting a job elsewhere in Sydney...

How the fuck can GLORIA JEANS (the homegrown Starbucks RIP-OFF chain), of all places, joke about someone else serving up shite coffee? Their mother'n'daughter-cappuccino-with-a-slice-of-cake-and-token-donation-towards-breast-cancer coffee isn't exactly connoisseur grade. And I'm yet to find ANY Gloria Jeans employee who can properly texture milk, let alone pull a half-decent espresso.

Gimme a fucking break.

The boss gave our little social committee a handful of cash to invest in "stuff" to make our Friday night social events more entertaining

They lashed out on a PS2 plus Singstar microphones plus every Singstar game ever released in Australia. Nice one, guys. To top it off, they also lashed out on some massive beanbags which are ace to crash out on when you've had too much to drink.

Team it all up with a lunchroom/kitchenette that's got a projector and two fridges full of booze and you've got a fun Friday night.
