Heading home....
....on another late train. :-/
Tue 23 Nov, 2004 - 03:33:02 PM
Same-day express service...
...but 4 days of walking past them before I remember to collect the suits.

Orphan photo.
Sitting here in a meeting room waiting for a late-running attendee. Discovered a photo that I haven\'t added to the phone blog. SHOCK! HORROR! It\'s of Geena looking at Linda through the glass door at home last weekend. Makes a nice change from all the boring office stuff I\'ve been uploading today.

Office life - nature calls.
Move along. Nothing to see here. NB: This MMS was sent *from my desk* when I got back from the gents ;-)
Tue 23 Nov, 2004 - 12:20:24 PM
Office life - food.
Just enough time for a quick sandwich from the cafeteria, eaten at my PC, before heading into a series of 1hr meetings this afternoon. Bring on 5pm, I say!
Tue 23 Nov, 2004 - 11:14:01 AM
Office life - oooh a delivery!
Look what just arrived - 35 new Dell monitors! Next Friday we\'re upgrading all of our workstations. This delivery means we now have all of the hardware on-site. Just have to ensure our IT&T support people get it all implemented over the weekend when we do the big cutover. At long last it\'s \"Bye bye NT4 workstation and Win2K server\" - \"Hello XP Pro and Server2003\".

Office life - magic mirror.
I purchased this little gem from the very cool lads at
http://www.thinkgeek.com. It\'s called a C.H.I.M.P and it lets me see over my shoulder and avoid being hit by wads of paper, foam stress balls etc if someone\'s feeling mischievous.

Office life - meeting.
Hard pic to take (being discrete), so sorry about the composition! One of my colleagues has worked out what I\'m up, to as I\'m here trying to type up an MMS in the middle of a meeting. LOL. Here you can see Phil and Tom. Richard and Charlie are out of frame.
Tue 23 Nov, 2004 - 09:44:23 AM
Office life - nature.
Sitting next to my monitor is the only plant I\'ve NEVER managed to kill! It\'s a \"homalomena green form\" (so the tag says... it could be a palm tree for all I know - it hate gardening!) and puts up with all the swearing andpoor treatment that I can throw at it. It started off with three pathetic leaves, looking very lonely in the big black ceramic pot. It now has 30 or so leaves, three distinct \"trunks\" and is probably pot-bound. What a champ. Even laps up left-over Pepsi Max that I pour in there. Gotta go... off to the Tuesday Management Team meeting. Will try to sneak a pic while I\'m in there.

Office life - radiation central.
Something a little different today - a series of photos from my workplace. And we\'ll start here - my workstation. You can see three of the four PCs that keep me (and hopefully the team I work with) on track. It\'s a wonder I don\'t glow when I leave here of a night ;-)

Look who I found outside.
It\'s only 9.03pm, but I\'m exhausted and off to bed. This bloody cold is getting the better of me :-( Just went outside to hang up a bit of washing (see \"Mr Mum\" comment below) and noticed the pooch being abnormally well-behaved. She even sat still for long enough for me to take a long exposure (night) pic of her. I kind of think the teeth make it look like she\'s smiling. Goodnight all....

So domesticated.
Got home with little time to make dinner before Linda bolted out the door to yoga. Monday nights I\'m generally \"Home Alone\" (sans-Macaulay Culkin) and play \"Mr Mum\" (sans-children). Tonight was a real slap-up dinner - a quick salad (pictured) with some pan-fried chicken boobs in butter and Italian herbs. Simple and easy (like me).

Failure.
Oh great. Testing falls into a screaming sh*theap at the first hurdle. Seems someone forgot to set up some special accounts on the new domain. And guess who is off sick today? That\'s right - the only person with appropriate security rights to fix it up Graaaaaaaaaah! What a nightmare.
Mon 22 Nov, 2004 - 02:28:11 PM
The Big Test Day
Arriving at the data centre to commence the big software test. Should be a test lab set up and ready to go when we get past security.

Excitement over...
Excitement over. :-( I\'m either a freak (possible) or the hear hook they provide for this headset is WAY too small for an adult male ear. It is *tiny* - forcing the speaker extrusion hard into the upper ear cartilage. Talk about uncomfortable! Sound quality is great and the caller display on the headset is superb, but it all counts for naught if you can\'t wear the bloody thing. Returning to the shop post-haste! Bugger. Methinks the Plantronics M-3500 will be the next candidate.
Mon 22 Nov, 2004 - 09:30:15 AM
New gadget time!
Courier just delivered my new Sony Ericsson HBH-660 Bluetooth headset. How exciting! Can\'t believe how small/compact it is. The little LCD screen on the side looks great, too :-)

This makes me angry.
Our train system has been having a few problems of late (understatement of the year?). Delays, cancelled services etc Some stupid woman has been runing a campaign for a mass commuter fare boycot. The state government has caved in and declared today a fare-free day. It\'s a government-owned rail system - so who pays for it anyway? DUH! If it wasn\'t illegal to punch someone\'s lights out, I\'d throw her a right-hander for being such a moron. Same, too, with the fvcktards on the http://www.shityrail.info (spoof of the official http://www.131500.info site) forums who want to launch a class action. Who the hell is THAT going to benefit? Brain surgeons everywhere Almost at work now.... big day ahead with an organisational restructure and software assurance testing. Damn - typing on this little keypad is time-consuming hard work.

Eyesore. Eyes sore. (The pic...)
I hate when you forget to attach the attachment! I hate it even more when I do it ;-)

Eyesore. Eyes sore.
(Not sure why this one didn\'t make it from the mobile to my phone log. It\'s been almost 6 hours since I sent it! ). Didn\'t take long for the house-hunting bug to bite and we were back on the road looking. Found a couple of new contenders and ruled out a few others. As we stopped to look at a place in St Peters (part of its horrible streetscape pictured here) we discovered that the suburb is directly under the flight path for Sydney Airport. St Peters crossed off the list. Erskineville and Alexandria still in the running. Time for bed - eyes, nose & throat burning from this crappy cold/flu. Goodnight.

Protected...
... by a thin sheet of glass ;-) Say hello to Miss Geena.
