Local Warajis
Traditional warajis are sandals made from straw
(or wara, the dried stalks of rice plants). But in
this case, the sandals are woven using the local
abaca and with a piece of bamboo inserted in
each sandal to massage and stimulate the nerves
on the arch, made by a Japanese reflexologist
who lives in Makati. One is supposed to wear
these for at least half an hour each day to get
the full accupressure benefits. With every step,
it's pain and pleasure interwoven!
