Just another training Sunday at Ayala Alabang? Not a chance. It was Uyay's birthday last Aug. 14 and instead of a birthday party, she and better half Randykins thought: why not a BIRTHDAY RACE?

And so off we went to the Ayala Alabang Country Club pool---all 13 of us---to do a sprint triathlon (750m swim followed by a 20km bike & lastly, a 5km run). Christened UBIT (one letter short of yearly race SUBIT) by my witty hubby Anton, this race was to be the 1st-ever Uyay's Birthday Invitational Triathlon!

Everyone got into the spirit, showing up in their race suits and giving their all, not forgetting to smile thru the sweat & pain of friendly-racing. The race was capped off by a lunch of sisig, salmon-head sinigang, pakbet and crispy pata! Sarrrap!

The best part of all was Mike "D'Grip" Caragay bringing over an assortment of medals for props! Everyone gamely got into the "awarding" ceremony, complete with picture-taking (amidst goofy laughter) and tri-cool prizes (donated by Uyay's friends in lieu of birthday gifts) and finisher's shirts (a last-minute project of yours truly).

The lovely Amarri boardwalk...where you'll see joggers, walkers, walkers with babies, walkers with dogs, walkers with jowas...

Amarri's little-over-2km bike circuit is overrun with cyclists from 6-8am everyday...
