I am 58 years old and I live in São Paulo, Brazil.
During 6 years, from 1940 until 1946, my father wrote a journal. He wrote just a few lines every day and almost never missed any. The description of his daily life was intended to be very objective, but along the years emotion slowly grew here and there. 67 years later these journals became an interesting report of daily life in the 40's. São Paulo was living then an economic boom and the city changed fast like a Chinese town nowadays. Far away, in Europe, there was the war. Brazil was not invaded of course, but the consequences arrived and are registered in some of the pages.
The journals remained untouched during almost 60 years until finally I read them from the first to the last page and decided to create an expression project related to them. It seemed that a kind of comparison of daily life at the beginning of the 21st century could be something interesting to start. So during 70 days I took photos everyday like a visual journal. Until now my ideas about the whole project are not completely clear. But, anyway, this phlog is part of it.
