Winters aren\'t what they used to be

Winters aren\'t what they used to be

Current outside temperature: -2.0°C
Not so bad, really. The temperature is quite manageable. I'd say it gets cold once it creeps below -5°C, or maybe even -10. -2° is like you don't have to get dressed to pick up your mail, just wear slippers and a t-shirt (and of course trousers, unless you want be fined for indecent exposure).

Indoors temperature: 19.0°C
I believe room temperature is supposed to be around the 20°C mark. Personally I think anything over 16°C is manageable, 18-21°C is quite comfortable, but 22°C and above gets a bit too hot in the long run.

Musique du jour

Musique du jour

My car stereo is stuck in the eighties at the moment. Actually, that's where it usually is stuck on a semi-permanent basis. Amazing really, I've had this tape (along with a few others) for about eighteen years, and it still works :)

Point to ponder: I've had that tape for more years than was my age when I got it. Christ, I'm getting old!

Just as dark, only different

Just as dark, only different

15 seconds shutter time, and the night turns almost as bright as day. Outside still looks dark to the unaided eye though. Thee's been a little bit of snow during the night, almost negligible. This hasn't been a postcard winter so far. Upside to that is I can save my back a little longer, since I don't have to clear snow out of the driveway :)

Saturday snacks

Saturday snacks

If you don't like beer, you must find something else to drink. However, I do like cider, which is a lifesaver whenever there are drinks going around and you feel a little out of place drinking just Coke. And then there's marzipan snacks, suitable for the season ;) Home alone on Saturday night, watching television.
In fact I felt like having something salty, but Someone(tm) forgot to buy potato chips :-p

Discovering fire...

Discovering fire...

[6:30pm]
A mere 4 days before Christmas Eve, and I am lighting up the oven for the first time this year. No firewood this time, just a lot of paper and cardboard, milk cartons and such. And behold, the house even got a bit warmer :)

Exodus

Exodus

Amazing, really, that it can be as difficult and cumbersome to get out of a parking lot, as it is to find a parking space there during the busiest hours in the first place. Fortunately I'm a patient fellow, and will rather sit and wait than stand in line for the exit. I won't get there any faster anyway :-p
