She's been gone many many years but I still think
of my grandmother a lot.

this is a beautiful image. I too have a grandmother who stays firmly in my heart and on my thoughts, it's good you keep her memory!

I'm also a Lola's girl.

I loved my grandma Rosa, specially because she looked always so helpless, to fragile, I think she was a little girl all life long. But I never think of her on the Day of the Dead - always on her birthday. When she got very old, sick and could not recognize anyone, whe used to call me "my boyfriend". She left no photos, no letters - probably she will be dead only when I die, when nobody remember her anymore. Thanks for making me think of her now, Jigs!

(Did this cup belong to your Lola?)

That is such a poignant line, Eduardo: that she will be dead only when you die and no one will remember her anymore. Lolas/Grandmas/Avos/Großmutters — they are such special women, aren't they? And the good ones deserve to be honored. My Lola Trining was a passionate and fearless lady, although she looked so sweet and demure on the outside. I'm glad we are all our grandmothers' angels. :-)

This cup belongs to my mother, though. But it reminds me a lot of my Lola and her home in the province where I'd happily spend my summers as a little girl.
Go ahead... Dish!
