Traditional warajis are sandals made from straw
(or wara, the dried stalks of rice plants). But in
this case, the sandals are woven using the local
abaca and with a piece of bamboo inserted in
each sandal to massage and stimulate the nerves
on the arch, made by a Japanese reflexologist
who lives in Makati. One is supposed to wear
these for at least half an hour each day to get
the full accupressure benefits. With every step,
it's pain and pleasure interwoven!

Great design!

(Tagalog lesson: Leica said she was going to ask the same color to her pedicure, right?) I would ask a pair of these warajis (much more comfortable than our "havaianas").

Eduardo: They are definitely not more comfortable than "havaianas"! The first time I wore these reflexology warajis, I was going "Ouch!" "Ooh!" and "Aruy!" with every step, as the bamboo and the rope-bumps put pressure on the soles! It's afterwards, when the "session" is over, that I go "Ahhhh..." :-)

BTW, Brazilian havaianas are BIG now in Manila! Every trendaholic and fashionista is wearing a pair, even if it costs at least 800-pesos each (approximately 33.30 BRL or US$14.55)!!! Whereas one could buy a pair of the local flipflops for as low as 20-pesos (about .85 BRL or US$.36) in Divisoria or any of the municipal markets. It boggles my mind!

By the way, what Danielle said was her pedicure is the same color as mine. :-)

I found a way to get rich (without the need of becoming a politician nor a drug dealer): I will export havaianas to the Philippines. A pair costs around US$ 5.00 in any supermarket around here. There are more expensive ones, but their price will never reach US 15. You can send me Kobunpue chairs in change, ok?

Cobonpue's chairs for chinelas? No fair!!! Besides, what'll you do when the havaianas fad is over? ;-D

Then you might export them to Papua New Guinea, why not?
Go ahead... Dish!
