It isn't really. It's a sculpture of a horse in someone's
garden overlooking the street. But in the dimly lit
streets on this week before Halloween, it could very
well pass for a tikbalang — a monster from Philippine
folklore with the head and torso of a horse but is
human from the waist down.

Jeez, you have some monsters that can get you. I used to be just scared of "the bogey man" when i was a kid. Don't ask me what he looks like 'cos thankfully i've never met him.

Thing of beauty. My daughter would love this.

Oh we've got all kinds of monsters, Lorenzo, some of which, interestingly enough, find parallels or similarities in other cultures, whether Asian or Western. But what I find most interesting of all is how universal the image is of Kamatayan or the Grim Reaper, especially with his long sharp scythe!

I don't know of any little girl who doesn't love horses. I remember I used to pester my Dad to buy me a horse, with absolutely no idea how expensive a proposition that was. Does your daughter ride, harald?

Yes, she does. My 'little' girl is due to turn 21 next month, but she still enjoys riding and being around horses like she did back then as a kid.
Go ahead... Dish!
