Dave's kiwi fruits...they're far from ripe. He says it is another four or five months to go...those things hang around for a long time :-)

I didn't know they grew on vines too :-) until he showed me these pictures.

Dave's parents grow them in NZ, these were the pictures he took when he went back.

Actually, the kiwi's original name was the Chinese gooseberry. Have you ever seen a sleeping kiwi?

when dave told me kiwi fruit grew on vines, i honestly thought i was the only one who didn't know :-) we need to thank dave for sharing this, apparently little know fact, with all of us :-)

Not sure why they take so long. They flower and pollinate in Nov/Dec. Normally will be mostly grown and ready for picking by late April to Early June. Depends alot on how the weather goes over summer.

The vines grow for a long time, the main trunks coming from the ground are 15-20 years old. They just get pruned back for the following year.
