Is it just me or does BNAT seem kind of shiity this year?

It does, but I think that's just because of the timing of it.

Last year they were able to get screenings of the most anticipated movies, because BNAT was happening right before they came out in the theatres.

This year, BNAT's not happening right before any huge movies that people have been waiting years for are out in the theatres.

They're basically doing the best they can and getting what they can get, there just aren't any super "WOW!" movies that are coming out in the next few months that are available for show at BNAT.

Definitely seems shitty so far, but there are still 3 premiere-esque films left, so who knows? But there's just no big geek film on the horizon to get excited for this year. By this time last year though they had played Old Boy and Return of the King.

It's only halfway... only two premieres so far... and it's much more about the people you watch with... than the actual movies.

Maybe timing isn't the issue. Maybe it's the fact that -- outside of "The Aviator," "The Life Aquatic" and "Lemony Snicket" -- there ARE no big movies this winter. Is the public supposed to wet its collective pants over "Closer" or "Spanglish"? Give me a break. I don't know about anyone else, but I would never subject myself to more than 9 straight hours of someone else's* cinematic line-up.... Not even Tarantino.

* - Anyone living, that is. If Stanley Kubrick showed me nine straight hours of seel blubber being processed, I'd do it if there were some significant point behind it.
