In a Rojo Mood

In a Rojo Mood

Perhaps it is time for a series with a bit of a theme. It may blossom into a longer series a la Jig's Boysen and Star series...But for now it's a start. Red is such an emotional color. I was trying to find a quote or a poem about the color red. The choice below doesn't neccesarily reflect my mood right now, but I've always liked it.

"Holly: The blues are because you're getting fat and maybe it's been raining too long, you're just sad that's all. The mean reds are horrible. Suddenly you're afraid and you don't know what you're afraid of."

The (Red) Jagged Little Pill

The (Red) Jagged Little Pill

...And what it all comes down to
Is that I haven't got it all figured out just yet
I've got one hand in my pocket
And the other one is giving the peace sign.

A western street with eastern manners,
Tall pagodas and golden banners
Throw their shadows through the lantern glow...

...We call it
Grant Avenue, San Francisco,

Looks down from Chinatown
Over a foggy bay.

Limang dipang taong nagtutulakan
sa abenidang aking napagdaanan
Nag-aabang ng masasakyan, patungo kung saan,

along the street that I am passing
I am on the lookout for a ride
going somewhere I have yet to know) **

Le Petit Livre Rouge

If you are going to Paris France
you have to turn into French and absolutely go wild
and put adhesive tape on you
and fall down a lot and sklathe the window
and stretch into the curtain and grab Nanny's ankle
and be dragged around.

Perhaps this final act was meant
To clinch a lifetime's argument
That nothing comes from violence and nothing ever could
For all those born beneath an angry star
Lest we forget how fragile we are

Art in the Desert

When I think of Las Vegas, images of neon lights and smokey casinos usually come to mind. I thought I had her pegged, like a gambler with x-ray glasses at the blackjack table. On a recent trip I discovered that she still has some tricks up her sleeve.

Surprise!

Surprise!

While killing time in a non-gambling fashion, I came across a quirky set up right smack in the middle of the mall. It was a little exhibit sponsored by the local Chamber of Commerce. I didn't really read the backgrounder because I was so drawn to these mosaic sculptures. Granted it is a little gimmicky, but they felt legitmate in a pop sort of way. Very Vegassy. Oh what Andy Warhol would have done if he were alive in Vegas today...
