Transit Officer Sanctuary.

Transit Officer Sanctuary.

I just spotted a lone CityRail Transit Officer walking through Parramatta Station (eastern concourse) on my way to work. I thought that was a little odd because they normally operate in pairs.

The mystery was short-lived. As I walked past the little DCM (donut) shop, there he was with three other Transit Officers - stocking up on Coca-Cola and iced donut treats. (Watch those waistlines, fellas).

It was worth retracing my steps so that I could take a quick snap. They just looked so happy in there, surrounded by donuts and pastries - not the normally grumpy sods you see asking for tickets on the trains.

I wonder what the funny folks on ShityRail will make of this sighting when I get to the office and make a post in the forums?

Ooooh... bargain!

Ooooh... bargain!

Only this morning, Linda was saying that she'd like to get a USB thumb drive so that she could do work at home and cart it to/from the office with ease. Spotted this great special on a Lexar 512MB JumpDrive Traveler and suggested that it was a VERY good buy (the recommended retail price here is a rather over-inflated AUD169.95).

But Linda realised that 512MB would be overkill for her needs (a few Word documents, Excel workbooks and PDF docs). Derek realised that 512MB would be perfect, as his existing 256MB Kingston was often full as it was. The masterplan was hatched.

I now have a 512MB drive and Princess has a 256MB drive. Too easy. :-) A desk and chair has been selected. We're out of here.

Coffee. BIG coffee.

Coffee. BIG coffee.

ARRRRRRRRRRRRGH!

After 80mins(!) of laps around various parts of the CBD, I finally found a park down near Chinatown in Haymarket. I have to pick up Linda in less than 30mins, so a quick Starbucks will have to do as I use their wifi connectivity on the PDA. Oh... have also bought a tasty piece of milk chocolate Rocky Road.

This is a VENTI sized flat white with triple espresso (six shots). Yes, it's a big cup but OMFG is it strong! Oh - they screwed up my name (Derek) and wrote DERRID on the cup sleeve. Hehehehe.

Must quickly throw this down my throat before heading back to the theatre to pick up the Princess.

Night has fallen.

Night has fallen.

The K700i *sucks* in low-light environments. As bad as this image probably looks on a computer monitor (it looks terrible on the phone's little screen), it's infinitely better than using the phone's "night mode". Note to Sony-Ericsson: SORT IT OUT.

This is George Street - the very heart of the Sydney CBD. I'm currently driving along to find a park (almost impossible on a Friday night) and a wifi-equipped café.

Let's split.

Let's split.

Linda and I normally go to the Belvoir St Theatre together to see plays throughout the year. However, the current production, The Sapphires, doesn't really interest me. So - Linda's decided to go on her own. For the next 2hr 20mins, she'll be at the theatre, and I'll go roaming the streets of Sydney killing time.

After-dinner drink.

After-dinner drink.

Linda's off to see a play in half an hour, so we have a little bit of time to kill. Have landed at the Shakespeare Hotel in Surry Hills, not far from the theatre. This hotel is famous for it's delicious $5.00 steak meals, but tonight we're here for a quick drink. Although, looking up at the chef's blackboard, I am sorely tempted to try the "chocolate mouse tart with cholocate mud ice-cream".
